Ever wonder what we have been up to?

Well I know some of you are thinking I have given up blogging for good, well that is simply not possible. We have been out of town a lot and I have not had time to post. We have actually been up to quite a bit. I love spending as much time with Trenton as I can and recently (like beginning of June) we discovered a pretty cool playground right inside our neighborhood. We loaded up the wagon and headed up there. Yes it is literally a couple of blocks away!! Minus the extreme heat and swarm of mosquitoes we had a great time. Unfortunately we have not been back since this day because we have been on the road. I will say I am pretty disappointed with myself because I have not taken as many pictures as I should!

In addition to discovering the playground we also discovered the waterpark at the YMCA. We took advantage of a free pass for 10 days with the intentions of joining, but just haven’t been around enough to justify it. Trenton was a little afraid of the water at first, but soon warmed up once he discovered he could stand, walk and lay on his tummy and the water stayed out of his face! The park is cool because it has a splash pad that comes on when the lifeguards need to take a break.

On one of my Friday’s off Gene and I decided to take Trenton to the Aquarium in Galveston. Gene has never been so I am not sure who had more fun. We saw the sharks, penguins (T’s fav) and the seal which scared the be-geezes out of T! It was nice to spend time with both my boys. Gene works so much so it is hard for him to get away and do things like this! And being a big fisherman this was right up his alley!

Trenton and I decided to pack up and head to Arlington with my Mom and sister’s family. We got to spend a lot of time with my Aunt Wanda and her girls. I have so many memories of my older sister and I running around with them. We enjoyed good dinner, great family and LOTS of fun. We visited Bicentennial Park and Randol Mills Park/Waterpark. Trenton was right at home with my cousins kids. They are pretty close in age and ran around like they see each other everyday. Trenton and Raylynn reminded me of my younger brother Joseph and my cousin Joy (Raylynn’s Mom). They were inseparable as kids and that’s how T and R were all weekend.

Climbing…this child has no fear!

I wonder what was said in this conversation? DSC04739

That same day we headed to the water park to cool off. Trenton LOVES his cousin Michael. He let Michael take him down the slides, through the waterfalls, in the water tunnels….I was so excited to see T having so much fun in the water!

We recently made a trip to Del Rio for 2 birthday parties, a Baptism and a wedding. I literally took 2 pictures. Gene’s family was not there, it was on average 105 degrees during the day and while I was chasing my child in the scorching heat….I forgot to take my camera! So far summer has been great. We have had several play dates with our friends and hope to take a big vacation in July!

Water Babies

Sunday we were invited to a going away party for a couple of the coaches Gene works with. It was a swim party and I had very little intentions of Trenton actually getting in the water, well Brady and him had other plans. It started off as simple as dangling their feet in the water, to standing on the sun step, to splashing each other, to full on jumping from the rocks! All of this was done in regular shorts and diapers! They had fun and really that is all that matters. Everyone kept saying how well Trenton and Brady play together and you know what THEY ARE RIGHT. They have a blast together and I hope that they will get to grow up as BFF!

One of the main attractions for the boys was letting Gretchen’s dog in and out of his kennel. Poor fella didn’t know what was going on!

DSC04618 Here they are with Gene showing them how to blow bubbles! Watch out Brady is about to make a BIG splash!DSC04620

One of the cutest things we have taught our boys is to “Dab” you up! Here is a shot of them “dabbing” each other up after a long swim! DSC04647

I am so ready for the summer! We plan on being in the water and on the beach as much as we can!

Beach Buddies

Today our good friends the Brewer’s invited us to play at their family beach house. We couldn’t think of a better way to spend this beautiful Saturday, so Trenton and I packed up our chairs, swim suits and snacks and headed to Galveston. We are so lucky to live so close to the water. It is a fun and free mini vacation any time we want! Brady and Trenton had a blast! Trenton was scared of the water, dirt and just about everything that we were around, but soon warmed up once Brady showed him the ropes. Brady is a real deal beach bum! Thank you Kim, Jeff and Brady for inviting us to play! We can’t wait to do it again!! Maybe next time there won’t be a swarm of mosquitoes!

Feeding the birds was hilarious. Trenton did not understand why he had to throw it in the air! He wanted to feed the birds straight from his hands!!

DSC04590 Brady’s grandmother showing them how to make dribbles with the mud…poor thing got more than she bargained for jumping in a muddy hole of water with these two! I think splashing and throwing mud is not what she expected!DSC04594 Mr. Jeff kept filling up the hole with water because they would splash it all out!!DSC04598After a quick shower on the outside shower, we headed inside for some lunch and quick play time. Trenton and I had to head to a birthday party so we said our goodbyes, packed up the car and headed home to pick up Daddy! As we were driving I noticed that Trenton got very quiet so I peaked in the mirror to see if he was asleep and this is what I saw:DSC04599

HAHAHAHAHA! I guess he was totally over the sun by this time!!

As I mentioned earlier we had my niece and nephews birthday party. They had a waterslide, but there were too many big kids so we didn’t let Trenton get on. Instead he jumped on the trampoline! He did awesome (when no one else was in there)

Memorial Day Weekend

What a busy weekend we had! Thursday was my birthday so we celebrated by taking the boat down to Kemah. My sister came out to watch Trenton for us so we could have a night alone! We ended up taking some friends with us and had a great time. On Friday we just kept it low key and decided to order pizza and stay in. Trenton loves bubbles and his new thing is to keep a stash of bubbles in his fort! We go out there everyday just so I can blow bubbles and he can try to catch them! Then he slides down and off we go to something else!

Wondering if he can blow big, big bubbles like Mommy!

DSC04483  It must have been a long day at school!DSC04488Slugger making sure Trenton gets off safe!

DSC04492For Christmas Santa brought Trenton a train table with all the tracks! Normally he tears the tracks apart and plays cars, but lately he has wanted to play with his “Choo-choo” Since that day he plays with it non-stop. Which is nice because Santa was starting to wonder if he/she made a bad gift choice or not. Every little boy LOVES trains so I am happy to see the tracks getting some use!DSC04506 DSC04507

Saturday morning we got up early to get the back yard in order! We had a crawfish boil planned for my birthday on Sunday so we needed to clean up. The hot tub was in bad shape, but once Gene and Trenton got a hold of it, it looked brand new! Our plan is to teach T how to swim as much as we can in there this summer! When we aren’t at Gretchens!

Trenton filling it up!

DSC04510 Dad, how long is this going to take? DSC04512 Trenton decided to take a seat once he realized how much he was having to fill up!!DSC04514After the yard work and naps; Gene and I took the boat out with our friends Joe and Gretchen. We had a sitter once again and were able to enjoy the afternoon KID FREE!

Handsome couple on our new boat!

DSC04523

Crawfish! OMG! Talk about a crazy day. We woke up to gorgeous weather! I took Trenton to the store with me while Gene ran to get the crawfish. When we walked into Wal Mart the weather was amazing. When we came out I think a mini hurricane blew in! WOW! All that hard work in the back yard for nothing! We moved the party to the garage!

My brave son helping with the crawfish!

DSC04526 Boys will be boys! The kept a “pet” crawfish….who later escaped

DSC04531 I know it seems like this weekend never ends, but really it was nice to be off. Like a mini vacation! We enjoyed brisket and pool time on Monday at Joe and Gretchen’s. Trenton was  extremely a little scared of the water UNTIL…..drum roll please….he slid face first into the water! Now before you turn me into CPS, I will have you know I was right there to catch him and we made it seem like so much fun that we couldn’t keep him out after that! Well he has learned week 1 of water babies for FREE. He can climb out on his own, kick his feet, blow bubbles and lay on his back! DSC04543 DSC04546 DSC04548And my favorite, most hilarious part of the WHOLE day was when Trenton decided to run around with the goggles on his face! Holy Moly this kid is a hoot! He never seizes to amaze me. He can always make me laugh and I hope everyone else will too. This picture will be used for many future purposes: HS Football/Baseball banquet, Wedding….I think I might frame it and keep it around for girlfriends to see!!!

DSC04555 To close out his incredibly long blog Trenton had his 2 year check up today! I was super surprised to learn that Trenton has grown 4 3/4 inches since October! He has moved to the 94% on height (36 3/4) 75% on weight (31.6 lb) and 100% on head (20 3/4 in). We have a glimmer of hope that he is not going to be a small fry! He is such a healthy kid! His pedi office said they are happy/sad they don’t get to see him any more because he is never sick!

I love having a 2 year old when.....

.....we are in Academy and he hands the cashier his snack to scan and he says "Thank You" and when she ignores him he says with such sass "You're Welcome"
.....we are in Kroger and he throws a screaming fit because I won't open the cheerios, goldfish, cookies or juice that he feels he should have RIGHT NOW! Then have to have my husband come get him because someone might call CPS because I left him in the frozen food aisle screaming!
.....he wants to push his toys around the living room and politely (ha) tells me "Excuse You" because he must, must, must go behind me. (we apparently don't have enough space for him to roam)
......he bites me on the shoulder because I am trying to carry him, his bag, his bag of toys and a stroller down the stairs at the baseball field and I am just not moving at his requested speed - while he screams and yells NOOOOOO....
......he laughs straight to my face and totally disregards my request for him to pick up his cars off the bleacher floors before someone slips and falls
......laughs when I pick the cars up OVER and OVER and OVER again

Sorry I had to get those little vents off my chest! I hope everyone loves having a 2 year old as much as I do and can't wait for them to be 25! JK! I love him and we have good days and bad! Terrible Two's are here and Horrific Three's are coming so I keep telling myself it could be worse! I love my baby and hope everyone got some giggles from my little Trenton-isms (stole your phrase G)
