Our first family of 5 photo!
Oh what a journey this will be!
I have to admit that the last few days leading up to my delivery I was very anxious as to how the boys, well mostly Trace, would react to having a baby in the house. I was also worried how he would do with my surgery and me not being able to pick him up or hold him. My kids are my world and to be limited for a couple of weeks make it very difficult. Gene’s parents and Gene did a phenomenal job with the boys. The day Peyton was born Trenton went to his last day of VBS and then after lunch came to visit us. This was tough. We had a lot of family there, I was barely out of recovery and Trace clearly did not understand. They stayed for a few and we decided tomorrow would be better.
Day 1 – Big Brother eager to see Mommy & new sister Peyton
Aunt Laurie giving them their first look at their sister. They fell in love immediately. They were both very reserved on touching her, kissing her or holding her. I couldn’t believe that Trenton passed when I asked if he wanted to hold her.
The next day we decided the best plan of action for the boys would be to split them up and bring them at separate times. It gave me the chance to spend time with them individually and they are less crazy when they are alone.
Friday morning Daddy & Trenton brought Mommy her favorite Starbucks coffee and breakfast! (This became a tradition for the remainder of my stay!!)
This picture just melts my heart. Gene loves our babies so much and this picture shows it. He is learning a lot about patience with Trenton and boundaries with Trace. Peyton will have free reign with him I’m sure!
Trenton is so proud in this picture.
The boys left us to rest and met Grandma & Big Dog for lunch. After lunch my Trace came to visit. This time he was kissing and loving on his sister constantly. He is so gentle and sweet with her. When she cries he says “Oh no!” and usually runs to get her a paci. He seems so BIG now that sister is here.
When I am feeding her he sits right next to me, watching my every move and kissing her every second he can. He also likes to pat her on the back to burp her. Sometimes he gets a little rough, but she manages to burp for him every time!
Sweet kisses
This is the most difficult thing right now. He is not allowed to climb on me at all. Gene was able to set him next to me for a quick picture. We remind him about Mommy’s bobo and he usually backs off. I am looking forward to my 2 weeks being over so I can pick him up!
Mommy getting some loving from Trace
Daddy & his two littles. These two have him so wrapped already it’s hilarious!
Saturday morning breakfast, coffee and cuddle time with Daddy & Trenton
Trenton LOVES to hold his sister
Gene’s Mom and sister brought Trace up after lunch, but he was super cranky and needed a nap. It was a short visit with no pictures, but he did come to see us!
Sunday was the day we have all been waiting for: GOING HOME DAY! This day is always bitter sweet. The reality of being home with all 3 kids, no nurse to take Peyton at night so I can rest and no hospital staff to wait on you!
The man at Starbucks gave Trenton some stickers and a special princess one to share with his new sister. He is putting them on her now!
We had a couple of hours before we got discharged so Trenton soaked up his last bit of alone time with Peyton.
He kept telling me how much he loved her bow!
Watching some cartoons (or maybe golf with Daddy) before we got to leave!
The boys have been great since we have been home. They both run to her bed whenever she cries, love to kiss and hug on her, fight over who gets to burp her. Soon she will be running around and bossing them around! I can’t wait!
We had several friends and family come to the hospital to welcome sweet P to the world. I didn’t get my camera out for each one, but I want to say THANK YOU and we appreciate you coming to the hospital.
Aunt Mimi got the first hugs with Peyton in the recovery room!
PawPaw would never miss the birth of one of his grandbabies! This is lucky #10!
Nana and her girl
Grandma and Big Dog
Without these two amazing people Gene and I would not have known what to do. They kept the boys while we were in the hospital. They made sure they came up to see me and made sure we were stress free. Words cannot express my gratitude for all of the help. This is the 4th grandbaby for them!
Aunt Laurie (the best aunt ever)
We had a surprise visit from Gene’s Aunt Angelita and her daughter Danielle. Peyton had just left to go get some tests done in the nursery so we got in a much needed visit in!
I missed taking a picture of Anthony and Lanae who have not missed a birth yet! Lanae made Peyton the most adorable burpies which are coming in handy. We have great friends and family who love our kids so much!
