On August 27, 2012 my sweet Trenton started Kindergarten at Gilmore Elementary! I was a nervous wreck the night before worrying if we would forget something or if he would have a hard time. I know he has been in daycare/preschool his whole life, but Kindergarten is much different. At parent orientation we got to learn about their typical day. They have to be very independent: Put folder in their cubby, put their lunch kit in the wagon, hang their backpack in the closet, then sit down at their table and begin their first assignment. It seems like a lot for a 5 year old, but he made it through his first day. He was so excited to walk to school with his friends! We walked as a group and dropped each kid off one by one. Trenton went right into his classroom, found his name (and a friend from preschool) and got busy. It was much the same reaction I had when my Mom dropped me off! He is getting so big and mature. After pacing around the house all day waiting patiently at home for school to get out we walked to the school to meet him and his friends. He said his day was great, but couldn’t remember anything they did. I guess that is normal!
I let Trenton help pick out his school clothes and he was able to convince me to buy him 2 Spider Man shirts! They were from Aeropostle so I gave in!
My big guy on his first day of school! (This is sadly the best picture he would give me)

Yes I was obsessive about taking pictures, but he will only have 1 very first day of school!
This is us walking to school. I am so happy we live within walking distance!
How big does he look carrying his big backpack. I am glad he went with this one over the super bright Spider Man backpack. He does have a batman lunch kit that he chose all on his own!
I can see his face in this picture. It says “why is my crazy Mom taking pictures of me walking to school?”
The sun was in his eyes, but here he is in front of his school.
We ran into William (2nd) in the hallway and he hugged his buddy on his first day. I am so happy Trenton has older friends to watch over him & show him the ropes at school.

All smiles posing in front of his classroom. Mrs. Carpentier is his teacher. She is super sweet!
I guess his kinder nerves got the best of him because he would not eat breakfast. We stepped out into the hallway so he could eat a granola bar.
He finally found his table, sat down and started working.
He had a great first day! No tears were shed and he LOVED it!
