First Day of Kindergarten

On August 27, 2012 my sweet Trenton started Kindergarten at Gilmore Elementary! I was a nervous wreck the night before worrying if we would forget something or if he would have a hard time. I know he has been in daycare/preschool his whole life, but Kindergarten is much different. At parent orientation we got to learn about their typical day. They have to be very independent: Put folder in their cubby, put their lunch kit in the wagon, hang their backpack in the closet, then sit down at their table and begin their first assignment. It seems like a lot for a 5 year old, but he made it through his first day. He was so excited to walk to school with his friends! We walked as a group and dropped each kid off one by one. Trenton went right into his classroom, found his name (and a friend from preschool) and got busy. It was much the same reaction I had when my Mom dropped me off! He is getting so big and mature. After pacing around the house all day waiting patiently at home for school to get out we walked to the school to meet him and his friends. He said his day was great, but couldn’t remember anything they did. I guess that is normal!

I let Trenton help pick out his school clothes and he was able to convince me to buy him 2 Spider Man shirts! They were from Aeropostle so I gave in!

My big guy on his first day of school! (This is sadly the best picture he would give me)

Yes I was obsessive about taking pictures, but he will only have 1 very first day of school!

This is us walking to school. I am so happy we live within walking distance!

First Day School 011

How big does he look carrying his big backpack. I am glad he went with this one over the super bright Spider Man backpack. He does have a batman lunch kit that he chose all on his own!

I can see his face in this picture. It says “why is my crazy Mom taking pictures of me walking to school?”

First Day School 012

The sun was in his eyes, but here he is in front of his school.

First Day School 014

We ran into William (2nd) in the hallway and he hugged his buddy on his first day. I am so happy Trenton has older friends to watch over him & show him the ropes at school.

All smiles posing in front of his classroom. Mrs. Carpentier is his teacher. She is super sweet!

First Day School 017

I guess his kinder nerves got the best of him because he would not eat breakfast. We stepped out into the hallway so he could eat a granola bar.

He finally found his table, sat down and started working.

He had a great first day! No tears were shed and he LOVED it!

The Wrap

1 month 007

I was telling my friend Amy how Peyton requires being held ALL of the time. She offered to let me borrow her sleepy wrap. I honestly thought it would hold her over for a couple of minutes and then she would be back to being fussy. I WAS WRONG! This child would live in this wrap if I let her. So on any given day and time you will her in the wrap like in the picture above. It’s so nice because I can use my arms and still function. She usually falls asleep within seconds of getting in it. I use it to get her to sleep at night, go grocery shopping or just to get stuff done around the house. I heart this wrap and would recommend it to everyone.

Trace

There are few words to describe Trace. Gene says he is “mean”, but I say he is “determined”. He is a kid that knows what he wants when he wants it. He is extremely independent and smart. He has a very kind heart, but there is no in between with him. He is either super sweet or super mean. We just do our best to let him know when he is doing something wrong and reward him when he is being good. Lately he has been talking a lot. I don’t know if it’s because he is home with me all day or if it’s just the age. He has a lot of words and really understands most anything you ask him to do. He loves to help clean. He will mop the floor for hours during the day which is nice if I am feeding Peyton. I look forward to spending a lot of alone time with Trace and Peyton when Trenton goes to school. I think Trace needs the time.

This is what it looks like when Trace is running full speed at his sister. Isn’t it a look of fear from someone so little!

1 month 002

Oh that smile. It gets me every time!

1 month 003

99% of the day you will find Trace standing, sitting or climbing on the table in some way. It’s too bad he doesn’t eat EVER since that is what you are suppose to do at the table.

1 month 009

We laid grass in our back yard and that is where Trace spends his time. He plays outside for hours by himself. He is very much a loner. He likes to explore and climb. He and Slugger have a great time playing and it’s nice to just let him go and have fun. The Princess and I go out there during the day, but he usually tells us to go back in. INDEPENDENT I tell you!

Peyton 3 & 5 Weeks

So I am a little behind on Princess P’s progress, but adjusting to 3 kids while trying to nurse is not easy. Our lives are revolving around 3-4 hour feedings. The house gets torn apart my Tasmanian Trace while I feed her. Peyton is doing great. She has a few bad nights here and there, but for the most part is a great eater and sleeper. She is still on the same 3-4 hour schedule and on occasion will sleep 5-6 hours (mostly during the day). At 3 weeks she had a bit of thrush which the doctor gave us medicine for. She is still wearing newborn clothes only and size NB diapers!

First Day School 003

My how a couple of weeks make a difference. At 5 weeks old Peyton is really starting to change. She is starting to adjust to all of the crazy noise of the house. Really starting to take interest in her swing and bouncy. I think we can get a full 8 minutes in the bouncy and 15 in the swing if Trace doesn’t stop it every 2 seconds to kiss her or steal her paci! She has moved into size 1 diapers (because we ran out of NB in the middle of the night Smile) and has moved into 0-3 month PJ’s. My little one is going to be petite! We can get out and about more. I am a lot less stressed about nursing while we are on the go and she is really good if I put her in her sleepy wrap (thank you Amy Crisp!). We have managed to run a lot of errands, walk brother to school and much more. The adjustment to 3 is getting better for me, now when she is walking that will be a totally different story!

1 month 022

She is really starting to give us BIG GUMMY smiles to which I can never catch on camera! She is also starting to coo at us. The boys get so excited when she smiles at them. They really are pretty good big brothers. Trace is so sweet with her (most of the time)

1 month 023

Look she is starting to get so meat on her bones! Whenever I think she is starting to get big I will see my neighbors niece who is a day younger and realize how little she is. She will be small and mighty like her Mama!!

1 month 029

Just so I can remember this moment (bad or good they should be recorded right): I was getting ready the other day and Peyton was screaming on my bed. She requires being held 24-7. Trace decided to help Mommy and picked her up and tossed her gently laid her in the pillows on my bed. Then he said “It’s ok Pey Pey” and started jumping on the bed around her! Needless to say she was a little scared and Mommy had to fuss at Trace. Sweet girl is going to have to be tough with a brother like Trace!
