Happy 4th of July

Our 4th of July weekend was met with some horrible news. Gene’s Aunt passed away Friday evening unexpectedly. With me being pregnant and needing all of my personal time at the end of the year Gene had to travel to Del Rio without us to be with his family. We are very sad to have lost such an awesome woman. I am sad I missed family time and the funeral. With Gene gone Trenton and Mommy had to find things to do. With all the rain I have to admit we were tired of being cooped up in the house.  Saturday we cleaned house, got Trenton a haircut and headed to my parents house. My sister and I were going on a hunt for fabric while my Dad watched Trenton! Sunday I was even more tired of being inside so Trenton and I loaded up, had a breakfast date and then spent the day at the zoo. It was nice just the two us of. We took our time. ate a lot of snacks and rode the train. It was a fairly hot and humid day, but that didn’t stop this pregnant Mama! We got to the zoo early enough to beat the holiday crowd.

Everyone needs a Spider Man ice cream before going inside!DSC06660

He kept saying “Look at the sea turtles'”DSC06667

Pure bliss with the snacks all over his face to prove itDSC06670

Checking out the stinky Giraffe’s. I had a hard time with all the zoo smells, but made it through somehow!DSC06671

Awww he totally posed for me!DSC06675

So Trenton kept asking “I want to see Elephants, Lions and Tigers?” but once we got to the elephants he said they smelled like poop so we moved on.DSC06676

Oh my goodness it was H-O-T! Stopped for my favorite treat an Icee!

Due to the heat and excessive sweating I had going on we decided to skip the kids zoo (shame on me I know!), but headed to see the new Dinosaur exhibit!

He loves Triceratops and went back to see him several times DSC06683

T-Rex was a bit scary. He moved and roared and was HUGE! Trenton and many other kids would not go near him. This was as close as I could get him! DSC06687 DSC06688

After seeing dinosaurs we checked out the ducks and turtles and headed for the train. This was the highlight of his day!DSC06689

We were leaving as everyone was coming so the train line was little long. This is Trenton enjoying his millionth snack of the day!DSC06690

So cute! Waiting for the train to go!DSC06692

After a long drive home, detour due to traffic we finally made it home. We both laid down and took a 3 hour nap. That evening we did not see fireworks or anything. We ate dinner, climbed in bed and went to sleep. Not much excitement, but we did wear red/white/blue!

Happy 4th!
